Calcium phosphate substances with a suitable ratio of Ca/P are bioactive, biocompatible, and osteoconductive and enhance direct attachment to bone. To that end, to boost the bioactivity of titanium alloys, uniform hydroxyapatite coatings were prepared on Ti6Al4V titanium alloy substrates using microwave-assisted immersion method. The effect of the number of cycle i.e. exposure time to a constant microwave irradiation power of 800 W on the coating thickness, surface morphology and adhesion strength was thoroughly investigated. The homogeneity of the coating increased as the number of cycles was increased. Also, the adhesion strength of coatings was measured by mechanical tests.
