All rights reserved.It is observed that virtual environment as a shared techno-social life space which is momently being reproduced through the convergence between digital communication technologies that work as relationship enabler in everyday use and Web 2.0 based interaction applications have turn into a efficient channel for the production, transmission and consumption of folklore besides expanding the performance scope of various offline cultural practices and activities. Especially, when the necessary condition of folklore is fixed the motive of human, the need of expressing oneself and creativity instead of face to face interactions, it becomes more evident that the virtual environment is a factor that can provide the sufficient condition for folkloric production. When dealt with in this context, it could be claimed that domesticated virtual environment in which or on which socio-cultural activities can be performed have evolved a new folkloric experience domain that makes possible the emergence of original and even authentic folkloric performances and productions. The aspects of this situation that directly interest folklore studies are that communication and interaction technologies in generally and Internet in particular anymore have become a main factor of folkloric production and that many new, creative and hybrid cultural expressions which have some folkloric qualities have emerged in the generated virtual contexts. Here, in this study which problematized whether virtual environment is appropriate for cultural production in general and folkloric production in particular will be discussed the folklorization of virtual environment rather than virtualization of folklore according to specified parametres. Hence, it will be tried to reveal how cultural environment and contexts that are generated through digital communication technology have turn into an area of experience which is almost equivalent to oral environment over time.
