Özet

In the present study, aluminium fly ash composites were fabricated by mixing AA6061 chips with commercially pure aluminium powder, cryomilling and consolidating the mixture through hot extrusion process at 350 °C. Characterizations of the composites were made by structural examinations and mechanical tests (hardness, compression and wear tests). Microstructural studies conducted on the composites indicated that the chips were aligned along the extrusion direction, and most of them were isolated by the aluminium powder containing fly ash particles. According to the results of structural examinations and mechanical tests, the incorporation of fly ash particles in the matrix alloy caused reasonable increases in hardness, compression strength and wear resistance while reasonable decreases in density and electrical conductivity.
