This study aims to examine the impact of the conceptual framework developed within the context of Color Field painting on Helen Frankenthaler’s technical and aesthetic approach in her later works. The artist’s expansive color fields, created by pouring paint directly onto the canvas, are analyzed in terms of formal freedom and emotional intensity. This research is structured within the framework of a qualitative methodology; selected works of the artist are examined through visual analysis, and an interpretive approach is adopted throughout the study. Through visual analysis, the research reveals that Frankenthaler’s unique contribution to Abstract Expressionism centers emotion in the interplay between color and form. In this context, the notion of locality is addressed not merely as an aesthetic surface, but as an emotional layer nourished by the artist’s personal and cultural memory. The associative power of colors evokes perceptions that resonate with both universal and local memories. Ultimately, Frankenthaler’s aesthetic language not only redefines the understanding of abstract painting but also offers a new perspective on the relationship between modern art and locality.
