Özet
In recent years, the aquaculture sector has experienced rapid growth worldwide. This has led to an increase in demand for raw materials used in feed, such as fish oil and fish meal, which are crucial in this industry. Research into alternative, more sustainable feed sources is required due to pressure on natural fish stocks and rising costs. This situation highlights the importance of developing sustainable alternative feed sources with low environmental impact. Microalgae are a promising solution to this global problem due to their rapid growth, nutritional value, and adaptability to various environmental conditions. Microalgae, which contain high-quality protein, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and other compounds, promote growth and reproductive performance in aquatic animals, making them a viable alternative to conventional feeds. This study examines the potential use of microalgae in fish feed from an environmental, economic, and operational sustainability perspective. The findings indicate that the use of microalgae helps to conserve biodiversity by reducing fishing pressure on marine ecosystems and provides carbon capture potential due to its photosynthetic efficiency. However, high capital costs and energy-intensive production processes present environmental and economic sustainability challenges. As a result, microalgae provide a sustainable option for fish feed; however, production scalability and energy optimization are critical factors in determining their viability.
