Özet

Early diagnosis is crucial not only for the treatment of cancer but also for improving the personal life quality of patients. For these reasons, various methods and technologies are being evolved for the diagnosis of diseases. Sensor technologies have a very crucial place among these technologies. Electrochemical sensor systems are generally used in the diagnosis of diseases by biomarker detection on account of their advantages, such as being cheaper than alternative methods, having sensitive and accurate detection capacity, having a simple design, being portable, and also being suitable for point-of-care use. Furthermore, it is perfectly suited to the analysis of biomedical implementations. In recent years, the sensitivity and stability of sensor systems have been enhanced by the modification of sensors with different nanomaterials. Quantum dots (QDs), often referred to as semiconductor nanocrystals, have gained considerable attention in recent years as a novel class of luminescent nanomaterials, owing to their distinctive optical and electronic characteristics. This chapter highlights the structural properties and advantages of different types of quantum dots and their potential as promising vehicles for biomedical applications for quantum biosensing in oncology.
