Özet

Sleep is a natural state in which humans spend about a third of their lives. It is an active phase, dis-tinct from wakefulness, during which vital processes take place to preserve both physical and men-tal well-being. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), classified under sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD) according to the International Classification of Sleep Disorders (ICSD-3) updated in 2015, is mainly within the scope of ENT. Sleep disorders affect up to 15% of the population, and recent studies from the United States and Europe show that between 14% and 49% of middle-aged men experience clinically significant obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Given its prevalence, OSAS plays a crucial role in ENT practice. This chapter aims to present the surgical and medical treatment approach to OSAS in pediatric and adult age groups from the perspective of ENT.
