Araştırma İskoçya’nın Birleşik Krallıkla olan bütünlüğünün tarihsel süreç içerisindeki gelişimi ve İskoç Milliyetçilik anlayışının ne yönde şekillendiği bu anlayışın bağımsızlığa katkısının ne olacağı konularını açıklamayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada literatür taraması İskoç Milliyetçiliğinin gelişim sürecinden başlanarak yapılmıştır. Bu bağlamda çalışmada nitel çalışma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Birleşik Krallığın BREXİT süreci ile bu milliyetçilik anlayışının yeniden nasıl şekillendiği konusu ele alınmış, ülkenin, mevcutta yürütülen politikalarla Birleşik Krallıktan ayrılma arzusunun temellerinde, milliyetçiliğin ne denli etkili olacağı tartışılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları İskoç Milliyetçiliğinin siyasi yapıda bir değişime henüz hazır olmadığı ve hatta bu değişimde milliyetçilik dışı etkenlerin daha baskın argümanlar olarak ortaya çıktığı gerçeğini ortaya çıkarmıştır.
The research aims to explain the historical development of Scotland's integrity with the United Kingdom and the direction in which the understanding of Scottish Nationalism is shaped, what will be the contribution of this understanding to independence. The literature review in the study was conducted starting from the development process of Scottish Nationalism. In this context, the qualitative study method was used in the study. The issue of how this understanding of nationalism has been reshaped by the BREXIT process of the United Kingdom has been discussed, and how effective nationalism will be in the foundations of the country's desire to leave the United Kingdom with the current policies have been discussed. The findings of the study have revealed the fact that Scottish Nationalism is not yet ready for a change in the political structure, and even non-nationalist factors have emerged as the more dominant arguments in this change.
