Kafka, in his work called Great Wall, reflects his beliefs that the object dominated production causes alienation between artisan and object that he /she produced. According to Kafka, that situation must be ended to clear off the alienation between artist and object. By this way, one can achieve a balanced relationship between the inner and outer world of self. Once the inner relationship is established individuals’ self-esteem and self-trust begins to flourish. Kafka was in search for Healthy individuals since they can create a healthy society. In this way, society can act as a single body to overcome all bureaucratic obstacles and can eliminate all communication problems among them. But this is the first layer of Kafka’s work. If one wants to go deeper, will find that the text, in fact, explains the geographical difficulties of which Kafka faced. Thus his study begins to explore how the ruler society and ruled society alienated from each other. The aim of this study is to investigate the alienation concept in the Kafka’s The Great Wall of China (Çin Seddinin İnşaası) regarding as ruler society and ruled society and the effects of their bureaucratic relationships on individuals’ alienation problems. In this study to achieve objectivism both textual elements and outer elements that affect the text such as social, political, economic and biographical factors were taken in into consideration during the investigation. Thus an eclectic method containing social criticism, and biographical criticism was used in this study in order to clarify the alienation concept in Kafka’s The Great Wall of China (Çin Seddinin İnşaası).
