Özet

This study was conducted to determine the effect of a technology addiction education program given to adolescents on smartphone addiction, internet addiction, and healthy lifestyle beliefs. In phase 1, a structured technology addiction programme was developed. In phase 2, a quasi-experimental design was conducted to evaluate the education programme. The research was conducted with a total of 960 adolescents, 507 for the experimental group and 453 for the control group, studying in two high schools in a province in the western region of Turkey, using the " pretest-posttest control group design”, one of the quasi-experimental methods. Data; It was collected with the Introductory Information Form, Smartphone Addiction Scale, Internet Addiction Scale and Healthy Lifestyle Belief Scale for Adolescents. Average, percentage calculations and linear regression analysis were used to analyze the research data. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the Smartphone Addiction Scale, Internet Addiction Scale and Healthy Lifestyle Belief Scale for Adolescents score averages of the experimental and control groups of adolescents in terms of group, time and group*time interaction. It has been observed that the technology addiction education program is an effective method in reducing the average score of smartphone and internet addiction in adolescents and increasing healthy lifestyle beliefs, and that it contributes to the country and world literature and adolescent health. Including various professional groups in the implementation of education programs may contribute to diversifying the program and evaluating the subject from different perspectives. Additionally, due to the importance of technology addiction and its impact on adolescents, adding a technology addiction course to the high school education curriculum can provide effective results.
